George P. Messina, Founder President & Chief Operating Officer

Bio - George has served as a Chief Operating Officer or Chief Executive Officer since 1978, working exclusively in the medical industry since 1987. Throughout his career, George has acquired and developed core technologies, forged relationships with universities and national labs, and created joint ventures for the manufacturing and distribution of medical equipment internationally. George has raised over $100 million in debt and equity to support the businesses he has acquired and/or started, and has provided a compounded return to his investors of over 40 percent. George received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology.

Stephen Merrick, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

Bio - Steve brings 24 years of experience in the Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences sector where he has held multiple executive positions with leading global companies, including leadership of Nuclear Medicine businesses. He has extensive general management and corporate officer experience, as well as a proven track record of integrating science, engineering and commercial activities to drive complex projects to successful completion. He also served in the Royal Navy as a Nuclear Submarine Officer, where he specialized in Navigation and Operations. Steve received a BSc (Honors) in Engineering Science from the University of Exeter and an MBA from the London Business School, both in the United Kingdom. He also completed Nuclear Reactor Operator's training at the Royal Naval Staff College, Greenwich in the United Kingdom.

Christion J. Garver, CPA, Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

James T. Harvey, Ph.D., Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer

Bio - Jim has more than 30 years of design and management experience in the areas of scientific development and business operations. His operational responsibilities have included leadership of laboratory operations in nuclear and mixed waste areas, and environmental services. While involved in technology start-up companies, Jim has also been responsible for manufacturing, developing quality assurance programs for compliance to Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Department of Energy requirements, managing company activities to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and managing major government contracts involving federal research and development. Jim received a BS in Chemistry from the University of Virginia and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Arkansas. He has also served as a commissioned officer in the US Air Force in control of ballistic missiles in the Midwest, and has invented or co-invented several patented technologies.

James Brodack, Ph.D., Vice President, Regulatory Affairs & Quality Assurance

Bio - Brodack has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for more than 26 years, holding multiple management positions with leading global companies. He comes to NorthStar from Guerbet, where he was director of regulatory affairs for the company’s Liebel-Flarsheim Company LLC business. Prior to that, he worked for Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals’ imaging business for 25 years, holding a series of increasingly responsible positions in both regulatory affairs and research and development. Before joining Mallinckrodt, he held several academic posts at Washington University in St. Louis, pursuing research interests involving positron-emitting radiopharmaceuticals and the use of robotics to automate radiopharmaceutical production.

John Carlson, Vice President, Service & Training

Bio – John brings over 26 years’ experience in the medical imaging, healthcare, and radiology sectors where he held several leadership roles in the service, support and training arena. Prior to NorthStar, John served as Global Director of Customer Service with Accuray Medical and TomoTherapy. He has extensive experience leading diverse international teams of service professionals, establishing strong relationships with channel partners and designing strategies that deliver strong corporate and customer value. Prior to entering the medical equipment industry, John served nine years in the United States Marine Corps specializing in airborne electronic warfare with the 2nd Marine Air Wing.

Rim Milunas, Vice President, Engineering

Bio - Milunas has more than 30 years of engineering experience encompassing medical devices, mobile devices and automotive control systems, as well as extensive knowledge in hardware and software engineering. Milunas comes to NorthStar from Baxter International Inc., where he was senior director, global product management for the company’s infusion systems business. Before that, he was director, program management – new product development for Baxter’s renal business. Prior to joining Baxter, he worked for Motorola Mobile Devices, Motorola Automotive and Industrial Electronics Group, Tenneco Corporation and General Motors Company’s Saturn Corporation subsidiary. Milunas has a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois.

Edmond J. Fennell, Vice President, Business Development

Bio – Mr. Fennell is a 35 year veteran of the radiopharmacy industry serving in numerous senior leadership roles throughout his career. The key to this success is his Customer-centric approach to business.  Fennell began his career with Nuclear Pharmacy, Inc. followed by Syncor International and eventually founding Coastal Pharmacy Services, Inc. While at Coastal, he was elected Chairman of United Pharmacy Partners, Inc., and industry trade association. Fennell was one of the Founders of Triad Isotopes, Inc. where he held numerous leadership positions. Upon his retirement from Triad, it was the fastest growing national radiopharmacy chain in the U.S. Mr. Fennell Fennell has a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Miami and a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Purdue University. He also has and certifications in Public Speaking, Marketing and Business Negotiations.
